Q: What inspires you to design?
A:
Travel. Nature. Ocean. Surroundings.
A: Timeless Q: If you were to dress one person, who would that be?
A: Cate Blanchett. Her forward sense of style is always cutting edge and inspiring. Q: Who is your favorite new designer, besides your own collection?
A: Andrea Fohrman. We share a love for contrasting textures. Q: What bag do you lust for this season?
A: Balenciaga Q: What charitable cause is most important to you?
A: "The Foundation for Tomorrow" that I partner with places orphaned children in Tanzania into safe care and also provides them education. Fifty percent of proceeds go to TFFT from each piece in my TFFT collection on my website. Q: What did you do before you became a designer?
A: Show Promotion/Visual Merch Q: What is your secret indulgence (fashion or otherwise)?
A: Cosmetics! I love Caudelie skincare and Shu Uemura makeup.
Laura James Jewelry began as a means of self-expression for founder and designer Laura Schmelzer James. Her love for collecting one of a kind antique jewelry coupled with her creative nature and background in design paved the way for Laura James Jewelry to emerge.
Intrigued most with the historical past behind heirloom jewelry, Laura James naturally founded her jewelry business with antique and vintage components taking center stage. To broaden her range, James honed her Metal-smithing skills at both Arrowmont and Penland School of Craft.
Handcrafted solely by Mississippi native Laura Schmelzer James in her window-filled North Carolina studio where she has resided for the past nine years, James blends her Southern heritage and global travels with her affinity for one of a kind vintage components, gold, silver, vermeil and semiprecious stones. In addition to her website (www.LauraJamesJewelry.com) and Max & Chloe.com, Laura James Jewelry is carried in specialty boutiques nationwide and has been featured in multiple film, print and online publications.
