Q: What inspires you to design?
A:
Travel. Nature. Ocean. Surroundings.
A: Timeless Q: If you were to dress one person, who would that be?
A: Cate Blanchett. Her forward sense of style is always cutting edge and inspiring. Q: Who is your favorite new designer, besides your own collection?
A: Andrea Fohrman. We share a love for contrasting textures. Q: What bag do you lust for this season?
A: Balenciaga Q: What charitable cause is most important to you?
A: "The Foundation for Tomorrow" that I partner with places orphaned children in Tanzania into safe care and also provides them education. Fifty percent of proceeds go to TFFT from each piece in my TFFT collection on my website. Q: What did you do before you became a designer?
A: Show Promotion/Visual Merch Q: What is your secret indulgence (fashion or otherwise)?
A: Cosmetics! I love Caudelie skincare and Shu Uemura makeup.
Laura James Jewelry began as a means of self-expression for founder and designer Laura Schmelzer James. Her love for collecting one of a kind antique jewelry coupled with her creative nature and background in Design paved the way for Laura James Jewelry to emerge.
Honing her metal fabrication techniques at the esteemed Penland School of Craft proved to be time well spent when Lucky Magazine came calling soon thereafter to feature Laura James Jewelry in their 2007 December Gift Guide. Most recently, Laura James Jewelry was chosen to be included in the VIP Celebrity Gifts for the star-studded film "He's Just Not That Into You", was hand selected by celebrity stylist Bobbie Thomas to be featured on The TODAY Show's December Hot Hollywood Gifts segment, requested to outfit Rumer Willis in the upcoming film "Sorority Row", is featured on the hit television series, "Gossip Girl" and will be showcased in the film "They Came From Upstairs" starring Ashley Tisdale.
Laura James Jewelry was also selected by Deanna Favre, wife of Quarterback Brett Favre, to create the official jewelry for her established philanthropy "The Deanna Favre Foundation" (www.DeannaFavre4Hope.com) which gives back fifty percent of each necklace sold to this cause.
Laura James Jewelry is handcrafted solely by Laura Schmelzer James. A native of Mississippi and current resident of North Carolina for the past nine years, James blends her affinity for organic and vintage stones with gold, silver, and vermeil. In addition to her website (www.LauraJamesJewelry.com), Laura James Jewelry is carried in specialty boutiques nationwide and has been featured in multiple print and online publications.
